Project: Small Shoulder Bag

I whipped up this bag by adapting Jodie's incredible tutorial on Ric Rac
and some beautiful fabric I found in the remnant basket at JoAnn's.

It was a learning experience but it was like my third project ever so I'm pretty proud of it. Everytime I looked it at I would think of Rachel, so I gave it to her. She was pretty excited and I hope she enjoys it

Project #2: Turtle Pin Cushion

This was actually my third project, the second was also a turtle pin coushin...made of scraps I got from a seemstress who does wedding and formal wear. It was pretty bad. I did most of the stitching by hand because the pieces were so small. Probably not the best thing for a beginning project, but this purple one I did mostly by machine and I now have the experience of sewing tiny pieces and curves in my machine. There were some bumps along the way, but it turned out ok for a beginning project. The pattern is from Simplicity which I got for 99cents at a Jo-Ann's sale. Wee!! The fabric is leftover fat quarter pieces also from Jo-Ann's.

First fabrics:
While I can't help giving in to amazingly cute fabric at mass retailers, I do try to see what I can find in thrift type environments as much as I can. My hope is to post pictures of my fabric finds, for others' enjoyment and my cataloging of sorts.

Sewmania!

I'm offically a sewing and all things crafting addict. I am also completely addicted to sewing blogs. So, why not add another obsession to the bunch and start my own. Oh other addiction: fabric. Hence the title of this blog which in my head becomes of a part of my blogging series which will probably never go much farther than the two parts it has now...cooking and sewing.
I hope to share my sewing sagas and photos. We'll see.

I came to sewing by way of knitting which I decided I am way too ADD for because of the constant concentration and my tendency to well, mess up. While I mess up no less in sewing, it's comparably much easier to fix. My seam ripper and I are already very closely acquainted.

Craig (best boyfriend in the universe cross-referenced in my cooking blog) gave me a sewing machine and carrying case for my birthday last month and I've been sewing crazy since!

Enjoy!
